Mechanisms of compensatory processes caused by unilateral nephrectomy in the liver of adult rats

Functional and structural changes in the liver after unilateral nephrectomy have been studied in adult white rats to determine a mechanisms of inter-organ compensatory-adaptive processes in pathologically altered parenchymal organs. It was found that the effect of unilateral nephrectomy on the histoarchitectonics of rats is morphologically manifested only in changes in the spatial relationship between sinusoids and hepatic plates within three days. Changes in histoarchitectonics caused by unilateral nephrectomy and increasing in the functional load on the liver during this period do not stimulate the proliferation of hepatocytes. The pecularities of activation of compensatory mechanisms in the liver after unilateral nephrectomy were also studied. It was found that in the case of hepatopathy caused by unilateral nephrectomy, the polyploidization mechanism is preferable from intraorgan compensatory-adaptive processes characteristic of the liver. In particular, it was shown that adult rat's liver responds to the functional load caused by unilateral nephrectomy initialy with an increase in the number of polyploid cells (2 × 2).
