Evaluation of budget nitrogen monoxide sensor for atmospheric measurement

Author: maka popiashvili
Annotation:

The purpose of this work was to determine the concentration of nitrogen monoxide in the atmospheric air by using inexpensive sensors and the comparison of those results to the ones, which were obtained from the online measurements. Atmospheric air analysis were conducted in the atmospheric research laboratory SMART|AtmoSim LAB, which is located in the second campus of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. Atmospheric air is one of the most important components of biosphere and it has a big influence on all living organisms. The development of the industry caused the accumulation of hazardous compounds in air in the large dozes. With the technical progress, the amount of hazardous compounds are continuously increasing and some individual component concentrations sometimes are far beyond their maximum allowable levels. The aim of this work was to evaluate the possibility of using inexpensive sensors of nitrogen monoxide in atmospheric air analysis. The measurement of nitrogen monoxide was conducted by using inexpensive nitrogen monoxide sensors produced by Alphasense and the obtained results were compared to the online measurement results of conventional laboratory equipment Eco physics CLD 780 TR, which determines nitrogen oxides by using ozone-chemiluminescence method.
