Annotation:

A genetically modified organism is any organism whose genetic material has been altered by the use of modern biotechnology, genetic engineering methods (i.e., unnatural methods). The possibility of genetic modification was discovered in the 70s of last century and today this field is quite developed and well-studied. Genetic modification can be experienced by any living organism, be it a plant, an animal or a microorganism. In recent years, the so-called "gene therapy" has been developed, which is used in medicine to treat certain genetic pathologies in humans. If we consider genetic engineering in this regard, then it means genetic modification is also possible for humans. The goal of genetic engineering is to impart some new traits to a living organism or, conversely, to suppress certain traits, naturally with the motive of "improvement." This is why a genetically modified organism differs from its natural (initial) analogue. Initially, the production of the product through genetic engineering was explained in a very humane way: - The issue of food security in the world had to be resolved. Their mass production began in the 1990s, and gained unprecedented scale in the current time. Developed countries strictly control and prohibit the entry of genetically modified products and plant seeds into the market, as many studies have shown that the use of genetically modified products can cause serious harm to human health. However, the opinion of scientists and researchers in this regard is divided. Genetic engineering has both, opponents and proponents.
