Annotation:

Almost one third of the land surface of Earth suffers from water scarcity, and the drylands consist of vast sandy deserts, almost without living organisms there. The deserts are permanent or seasonal, formed in hot climate conditions. The term itself denotes a deserted, empty place. Many people think there can be nothing special or interesting about desert, but all in vain. The nature itself is full of diversity and the land deserts are no exception. Huge lands made of sand, clay, stones, or ice, are completely unique places, attracting a great number of hikers and adventurers. In the present paper, will also be discussed the nature of the desert, as well as the nature of the society in close connection with the processes forming the desert, and determining its qualities as a unit and as an important landscape on Earth.
